More about the feline visitor, a short work week and a trip to the Botanical Garden.
Welcome and welcome back to my creatively chaotic corner of the world! It’s a sunny Sunday here, and the weather is not too warm - unless you’re directly in the sun. Which, thankfully, I am not. I’m hiding out inside where it is blissfully cool.
So, what has happened this last week?
The honest answer is - only a little. I knitted most evenings because I rarely have to think when doing it. The project I’m currently working on is still the Arctic Light Sweater by Kutovakika. The pattern has seeped into my muscles which helps in the no-thinking part. It’s all motion memory by now.
We did have a couple more visits of the black and feline variety. Today as well, and while it wasn’t as calm as usual, I did manage to get a few pictures of the rascal that comes yelling now and then.
(Our house is very old, and we’ve just started renovations.)
Today Yumi wasn’t quite as relaxed when the black cat arrived. Either something had happened during the night, or she was just too tired and done with the world. I’m not quite sure. She went to sleep after we all headed inside to prepare for lunch. We’ll have to keep an eye on things. Just because it looks peaceful and they seem to get along doesn’t mean it will continue to go well. I’ll keep you updated on that.
Yesterday, my best friend and I visited the Berlin Botanical Garden and Botanical Museum. Since neither of us enjoys driving in big cities, we took the train. It takes longer, but it is a lot more relaxing. You can joke and laugh without keeping an eye on the road. Though after arriving, we did get a little bit turned around and ended up having to backtrack a couple of times, which was kind of funny. We came just in time for a lovely lunch, so I’ll count even the backtracking as a win. The only downside was that a lot of the paths were blocked by construction. It seemed that they were renewing their tracks. We got to see most of what we came for - as far as I remember, we didn’t get around to visiting the Japanese Pavillon and the Medicinal Plants section.
We did walk through the hothouses, though, and that one plant made me giggle about it for the rest of the day. Dracula mopsus - it belongs to the family of orchids. Nothing spectacular there. But the German word for a pug is Mops. So when reading that name, I was hit with the image of either a squat little vampire or a dog with long teeth and a cape.
Ultimately, we managed to walk over 10.000 steps that day - something I still feel today. Though it’s not quite as painful as I thought it would be. And I also got some lovely photos - I’ll add a few for you to enjoy!
Next week I will be working on my post about my current knitting projects and some that will likely be frogged. I have the week off from work which should help with being productive. I’ll let you know when I will post it in next week’s letter.
Until then, have a lovely day!
Sue
Beautiful those garden pictures, probably use the orchid one as inspiration when I colour a fitting page :D
